What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored coverings that are bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. Made from durable materials like porcelain or composite resin, veneers correct issues like discoloration, chips, and gaps.

These cosmetic enhancements provide a smooth, natural look while addressing aesthetic concerns without altering the overall structure of your teeth. Veneers are a great solution for those looking to enhance their smile with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Step-by-Step Process for Getting Veneers at CDGH

Our veneer process is simple, efficient, and designed for your comfort. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1. Initial Consultation & Smile Assessment

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, where your dentist evaluates your teeth, gum health, and overall bite alignment. This step helps determine whether porcelain or custom resin veneers are the best option for you. During this visit, digital scans or impressions may be taken to plan your custom veneers with precision.

Step 2. Tooth Preparation

To ensure your veneers sit flush with your natural teeth and create a balanced smile, a minimal amount of enamel may be reshaped. This process is typically painless and involves removing a thin layer—just enough to allow the veneers to bond securely while maintaining a natural feel. The amount of enamel removed depends on your unique case and the type of veneer chosen.

Step 3. Shade and Shape Selection

Your dentist will work closely with you to select the perfect shade and shape for your veneers. Whether you’re looking for a bright, Hollywood-style smile or a subtle enhancement that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth, every detail is customized to match your aesthetic goals.

Step 4. Fitting & Bonding

Your dentist will carefully bond your veneers to your teeth, ensuring a perfect fit and alignment. The latest dental technology is used to harden the bonding material, securing the veneers in place for long-lasting durability and a natural look.

With proper preparation and expert placement, dental veneers can transform your smile with stunning, long-term results.

I was a patient of Dr. Gervais before he retired and then became a patient under the practice of Dr. Cuellar and Kipp. Of the many compliments I could give, the top three that will make me a patient for life are 1) they were always listening to my concerns, 2) the follow up treatment was always in my interest, and 3) the icing on the cake was the reconstructive work he performed was top tier. Therefore, on a 5 star scale, they max it out! Thank you Dr. Cuellar and Staff for everything!

I have been doing a lot of searching roughly for at least 4 years for the best Dental Implant Dentist. One day as I was watching one of the Television Channels in Houston, Dr. Hanna was the guest along with one of the clinic's client being interviewed. After that episode I decided that " Dr. Hanna " will be that Implant Dentist that i have been looking for. I therefore contacted Comprehensive Dental Group of Houston right away and scheduled an appointment. On day one I was already amazed of the excellent customer service that I received. Everyone in the clinic are very professional, nice and made sure that I was comfortable including my husband . All my questions and concerns were answered in a timely manner. The cost of the Implant and whole process were explained clearly and to me it was reasonable. During the Implant procedure all the staff made sure that I was comfortable and explained all the post procedure expectations. I am very happy and satisfied with the excellent customer service that I received. Many Thanks to Dr. Hanna and to all the staff for all the hard work and dedication. I therefore highly recommend Comprehensive Dental Group of Houston for and any Dental services and Implant needs.Update on my review: My final teeth were placed after months of careful adjustments to ensure that it was the right fit. I was so happy and impressed how it looked really good and felt right. The fit is impressive. Many Thanks again to Dr. Hannah and to the whole team of Comprehensive Dental Group of Houston. Frequently Asked Questions

How long do veneers usually last?

With proper care, veneers can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or more.

Veneers offer a convenient solution for repairing chipped or cracked teeth, giving them a smooth, natural look.

Porcelain veneers resist staining, while composite veneers may stain more easily, though they are still more resistant than natural teeth.

Typically, getting veneers requires two visits—one for planning and preparation, and another for placement.

The process is minimally invasive, and most patients experience little to no discomfort. Local anesthesia is used to ensure your comfort.

Veneers are ideal for individuals who have healthy teeth and gums and want to address cosmetic issues like chips, discoloration, or minor misalignment.

Dental veneers are a long-term cosmetic enhancement, but whether they are truly permanent or removable depends on the type of veneer used and the preparation involved.

Porcelain Veneers – A Permanent Solution. Porcelain veneers are not removable because they require a small amount of enamel reshaping before placement. This ensures the veneers sit naturally on the teeth without feeling bulky. However, since enamel does not grow back, once you commit to porcelain veneers, you will always need veneers or another type of restoration to protect the tooth.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 10-15 years or longer, providing a durable and stain-resistant solution for a flawless smile. If they wear down or become damaged, they will need to be replaced by a dentist.

Custom Resin Veneers – May Be Reversible. Custom resin veneers (also known as composite veneers) are less invasive, and in some cases, they can be removed or replaced without making permanent changes to the natural tooth structure. However, this depends on how much enamel was adjusted during the process.

Resin veneers offer a more flexible option but may require more frequent maintenance compared to porcelain, as they are more prone to staining and wear over time.

Veneers can address a variety of aesthetic concerns, offering a wide range of benefits:

  • Fix Stains: Effective for staining that doesn’t respond to whitening treatments, such as fluorosis or age-related discoloration.
  • Close Gaps: Veneers can make small gaps between teeth disappear without the need for braces.
  • Correct Misalignment: Minor misalignment can be corrected with veneers, avoiding the need for orthodontics.
  • Reshape Teeth: Chips, cracks, or worn-down teeth can be restored to their natural shape.

Enhance Size: Small or irregularly sized teeth can be made fuller and more proportionate with veneers.
