When it comes to dental restorations, dental inlays and onlays in Houston are great dentistry solutions that offer both durability and aesthetics. These custom-made treatments are designed to restore teeth that have moderate damage or decay, providing a natural, long-lasting alternative to traditional fillings.
At The Comprehensive Dental Group of Houston, we specialize in dental inlays and onlays that seamlessly blend with your smile, enhancing both form and function.
Dental inlays and onlays are restorative options used to repair teeth that are too damaged for traditional fillings but do not require a full crown. Both inlays and onlays are custom-crafted from durable materials such as porcelain, composite resin, or gold, designed to match the natural color of your teeth.
The difference between the two lies in their application: inlays fit inside the tooth, while onlays extend over the tooth’s surface, providing additional support.
Feature | Inlays and Onlays | Traditional Fillings |
Best for | More significant tooth damage | Minor to moderate tooth decay or damage |
Material | Porcelain, composite resin, or gold | Composite resin, amalgam, or other filling materials |
Fit and Design | Custom-made to fit precisely within or over the tooth | Shaped and applied directly into the cavity during the visit |
Tooth Preservation | Preserves more natural tooth structure while reinforcing it | May require removal of more tooth structure to hold the filling |
Durability | Very durable and long-lasting | Less durable, especially for larger cavities |
Functionality | Restores strength and chewing function in areas where fillings may fail | Suitable for less stressed areas of the mouth |
Procedure | Usually requires two visits (to create and place the custom restoration) | Typically completed in one visit |
Ready for your brandnew smile?
When you choose The Comprehensive Dental Group of Houston for your dental restoration needs, you’re choosing a team of experts who prioritize your comfort and satisfaction. Our experienced dental specialists use advanced technology and high-quality materials to ensure that every restoration is not only functional but also aesthetic.
Our personalized consultations allow us to consider all of your unique dental needs, and we’ll guide you through every step of the process, ensuring that restorations provide you with a long-lasting, beautiful smile.
Your journey starts with a detailed consultation. We’ll listen to your concerns and examine your oral health closely. Using advanced tools like CT scans and X-rays, we get a clear, 3D image of your jawbone. This helps us understand your unique needs and create a precise treatment plan.
On the day of the procedure, we’ll place four implants into your jawbone. These small titanium or zirconia posts are what hold your new teeth securely in place. We know surgery can feel overwhelming, but we’ll be with you every step of the way to make sure you’re relaxed. We also offer sedation dentistry, so you’ll feel calm and comfortable throughout the procedure.
Right after the surgery, we’ll either place a set of temporary or permanent teeth on the implants- depending on your treatment plan. If fitted with a temporary set, even if they aren’t your final set, they’ll look natural and allow you to eat and smile while your mouth heals. Healing takes at least 3-6 months, during which your implants will fuse with the jawbone, creating a strong foundation.
If your specialist recommends a temporary set, we’ll bring you back to fit your permanent teeth once your implants have fully healed. Once your implants have fully healed, they are custom-made to match the shape, size, and color that best suits you. The final result will look and feel just like natural teeth. We’ll make sure everything fits perfectly and feels comfortable.
We understand that the patients that entrust their smiles to us are being quite vulnerable to our care and our knowledge of general and cosmetic dentistry. We are humbled by their loyalty and make every effort to ensure our patients are treated like family and we build relationships through our outstanding dental and smile care.
We’d love to help you get the smile that you deserve!
